Forsyth County Sets Moratorium on Residential Zonings

Developers planning residential communities in Forsyth County will have to wait at least three months before they can submit an application to rezone their property. The county is no longer accepting applications proposing new residential developments after the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners on Thursday placed a 90-day moratorium on new applications.

Forsyth County Considers $60 Million Bonds for Parks

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners during the final regular meeting of 2006 directed county attorney Ken Jarrard to investigate funding $60 million of parks and recreations projects through bond opportunities.

Forsyth County to Conduct Hearings on Tree Removal Fine Ordinance

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners is expected to conduct the first of two public hearings regarding changes to its tree ordinance that loosen fines developers of large-scale commercial projects would have to pay for removing trees from their land.

Atlanta fourth in 'Smart Places to Live' listing

Atlanta ranks fourth on Kiplinger's "Top 50 Places to Live" list as reported in its June issue. Cities were ranked in a variety of areas including housing prices, cost of living, economic vitality, education, health care, arts and entertainment and recreational factilites.

State honors three Forsyth County schools

Trio named to Georgia School of Excellence list

Chattahoochee Elementary, Midway Elementary and Settles Bridge Elementary were all named Georgia Schools of Excellence last Thursday, March 9th. Only twenty schools earn this designation each year based on gains in student achievement or excellence in student achievement.

Forsyth County officials rule out planned jail site

Problems with land prompt new search for facility locations

Land that is located off of GA 400 at Exit 15 will no longer be considered for a future jail site and driver's license facility in Forsyth County. Construction on this property would be difficult due to the topography of the land and the rock in the land. The County is considering other locations that have not been disclosed.

Miami firm plans string of high-rises

Related Group, a Miami condo developer, plans to build Cityplace at Buckhead on 19.5 acres near Lenox Mall. The project will include eight to nine 40-story towers and one 20-story tower set amongs pocket parks.

Cousins' plan calls for four more towers

First building at Terminus, to open in '07, is just the start

Cousins Properties first announced last year its plans to build Terminus, a large-scale mixed-use project in Buckhead. Details of the project were just released including one 27-story office building, a second 22-story office building and three residential towers comprised of 150 units. Construction of the condo tower located on the corner of Piedmont Road and Peachtree Road will begin later this year.

Vote set on plan for new city park in Alpharetta

The Alpharetta City Council will vote Monday night on plans proposed by Monarch Construction to build a new park on five acres on Cogburn Road north of Windward Parkway.

The park would feature a walking trail, trees, an open field and bathrooms.
